Artist Statement:
In my own visual solitude, I usually focus on the sights or a scenery that range from ordinary subjects to sights ambiguous of placement. Being raised in just mostly basic town environment, I would be captivated with the difference of subjects that would be consider ordinary to everyday life in a city that I now habituate but are held in different significance in a town environment. Whenever wandering the city, I always look at the scenery around me with my own isolated point of view. This could range from either a display, sight or a scenery. In my practice there is a focus to use a medium such as oil painting, when capturing these specific images that could be seen in everyday, the use of the brushstrokes will leave specific markings in time. Painting won’t be the most precise in capturing an image, but that’s the idea of a memory as well, never precise to how an experience was. The idea to capture the ordinary, is also to capture what others could be considered the same and vastly different. The paintings will either be a natural attraction to people who see the same attraction in their own isolated vision, or it will attract the viewer out of uniqueness from how separate they are from the subject. |
